Thoughts – Teammates quitting and gallery

When I first started the game, I was in FTCL. It was a smaller alliance that I randomly joined. I didn’t know how the game worked. Since then, I have improved, but one thing that always hurts is when a friend quits. It’s always bound to happen as most that are play are adults with responsibilities and priorities.

Many players quit and sometimes you find out abruptly or you learn about it later. I try to look pass the game if I made a good friendship, but that makes it more difficult as some people don’t see it that way.

This post is about my teammates

Fran (FTCL)

One of the people that helped me learn a bit of the game was Fran. He was super smart in a lot of the information about many of the aspects within the game. While he was a source for information… it was our alliance chat culture that formed with him that really made the game fun. I remember sharing a picture of myself and after that, many of the people shared pictures of themselves (not so much selfies, but just pictures) and that brought a lot of us closer as a team. Fran’s impact on me was huge.

In the early part of S1, Fran quit one morning (or night in Spain). The message was he didn’t like long goodbyes… so he gave his account to Sunspider (when he decided to play). That impacted me so much and I always want to find a way to give tribute to him.

JD and Veil (FTCL/FAFO)

JD was R4 in FTCL and Veil joined a bit later. They are brothers. JD has been a day one with me. We’ve had some good times and he taught me a lot when I first learned to attack bases.

When things didn’t go properly in FTCL, JD and Veil (along with a few others) jumped to FAFO. I followed a later that day. FAFO was a huge refresh and helping had for many of us.

Veil decided to leave (didn’t tell anyone) and gave his accounts (main and farm) to JD. I worried about JD as I know he is busy. A few weeks later, JD did quit and without telling anyone. When Veil quit, I gave my number to him and asked him to give it to Veil if he ever wanted to talk. I did the same for JD. I was able to reach Veil via discord. Replies have been limited and not instant.

JD and Veil I will always enjoy because we made a culture in FTCL. We were having massive fun and enjoying goofing off with memes and jokes. Atleast I can reach Veil and I hope I can reach JD in some fashion just to be in contact.

Savvy (FAFO) – update

I only recently started to play with Savvy. She was part of the small Vet1 group that joined FAFO after we did. But in this short time, she was awesome to play with. We she would share diamonds and I enjoyed our messages. She’s awesome and it hurt to see her leave. She was on discord afterwards and I hope she still pops in just to chat.

She is back!!!!

Dano (FAFO)

When I joined FAFO, Dan was one of the main people in alliance chat. He had a huge impact on the team and was such as awesome, informative and supportive player. We always had a good time and I am glad he enjoyed my William stuff. There was a point that he was helping a smaller alliance (as he was pretty strong) and fighting off bigger players attacking them.

He decided to quit due to being too busy with the game and I think everyone is feeling it. I did not see him quitting as he was progressing pretty fast.

Sigg (FAFO)

Sigg was one of the big players in FAFO when I joined. I probably talked to him a couple times, but I was just trying to see the team dynamic and structure when I joined. As of this post (after Christmas 2025), I was messaging everyone and telling them happy holidays and I didn’t get a response from Sigg. I found out he was quitting as he was busy (like so many of us). While his impact on me wasn’t significant personally, his impact on the team is huge.

Culemborg (FAFO)

I had a good time with Culemborg. I didn’t know if there were underlying issues with him and Dan or Zed. When Dan decided to leave, Culemborg attacked within minutes. I don’t know the enthics or etiquette on how or who does things, but I’ve always made it a point to not attack a friend’s base. People found it disrespectful and Zed removed him.

Smokepop (FTCL/FAFO)

Smokepop was a day 1 brother. When we got attacked by Shaw/Vet1 in after our SvS, and he was in world chat talking s-t to those that were against us. When the game started to demand more time, he started to slow down on playing. He was part of the FTCL, so had a plan to get his base on the FAFO farm and that way he could play when possible. I texted him and he never replied. I know he was busy, but I was hoping to keep him part time active.

Staan (FAFO)

Since he is in another country (Europe maybe?), he was like the night shift team. After Christmas, he wasn’t on for a few days and Duck dropped him. I messaged him and he replied saying he isn’t playing the game anymore.

Update – he is playing casually in FTCL

Conclusion

It’s always hard to see a teammate go, but when I even look at my situation and how I’ve been with the game, I get it. Some explained that they were putting so much time, they were not mentally well with obsession.

The time and dedication is rough with this game and one of the main things that does make it fun… are the people you play with. I hope I can find a way to connect with people beyond the game.

UPDATED: FAFO is planning a migration to another server and we have the slots and guaranteed invitations. There are people who are on the chopping block for not playing or communicating. Some were booted for this unfortunately.

UPDATED

As season 2 is ending and people are getting busy, more people have decided to quit (this is everywhere). I do want to highlight people I know and also FAFO as some are founding members or people I played with briefly.
