When we started DAFO in 584 there were a couple stipulations:
- No spending money
- No attachment
- This is for fun
While I did spend for gas and some basics, it was no less than $5. We started for fun and even though there were a few of us, we didn’t really do alot and some people played maybe twice and abandoned the server.
A few of us did play a bit and broke rule #2.
While we are busy with our main accounts, some of us did put some effort to level up and play a bit more… Then we accepted people into DAFO.
That did lead to me and a couple people being attached to them!!!
My other attachment came when I decided to not just loot the other small alliances/hives/players… but offer them advice and explain the game a bit. Eventually, a lot of players that were not DAFO, liked us!
The issue was that there was a group from 418 and another server and they wanted to be the whales. Not only did they loot, but they looted everyone to be empty (to be fair, it is part of the game), but they also paid to level up pretty fast and while people tried to talk to them, they said the didn’t care about the server and wanted to cause chaos. While there was discussions of NAP10… it was so chaotic, that it ended up being a NAP5 and the “whales” didn’t want to be part of NAP. Then that person and another alliance started fighting the alliances that were trying to help build the server.
I honestly didn’t have time for that drama and either did the rest of the DAFO from 229. Before we disbanded, we tried to rehome our good players into NAP5 Alliances. We couldn’t give them 100% time and without spending, we couldn’t get to where it would be good to put a stop to the farming.
While we did this, those players that loved us, were very vocal about it to their new alliances and in WC. I love them. Even some of those alliances said they would make a spot for me (or any of us that were from 229). But we can’t allot the time needed to grow properly, especially when everyone is also growing.
While I do log in every so often to do some stuff, I mainly do it to talk to the people that messaged me. I’ve wanted to see if we can work something out with our ducklings.
